10. Live in another country (or at least move around a little).
I think this one comes from watching too much House Hunters International. People on that show seem to find a city they fall in love with, then have the disposable income to buy a vacation home, a online job that makes money anywhere, or a relative dies & leaves them a hunk of change. Since we don't have any rich relatives, we're down to two choices... both of which aren't going to happen anytime soon.
So... I might have to live with travelling, although technically I already accomplished this by living in Puerto Rico for 5 years. My youngest son was even born, there, which always amazes and astounds people since he's a blond, skinny, white boy. But I loved living by the beach so much... I would like to do it again, especially now that the kids are almost all out of the house (even though their stuff remains).
Sure, there are the occasional hurricanes, and it's rare to have more than one brand of ketchup, but there's also walks on the beach, and I don't eat as much since it's so hot. (I gained 20 pounds the first year I moved back to the States!)
During my life, I have lived in: California, Utah, California again, Utah again, Texas, Puerto Rico, and Oregon. Sounds like a lot, until I realize that I've been in Oregon for almost 14 years!
Now Big A has thrown me for a loop! At first, he was talking about being transferred to Hawaii to work computers full time. I knew he didn't want to actually move, so I was surprised. Later, he spoke to someone at B of A and now thinks it's a good idea to refinance our loan and buy a vacation/retirement home in Hawaii ! What the... ???
There's a short sale, one bedroom condo in Turtle Bay that was just listed this week. Since there's no rush, we can see what happens. If we rent it out at least 60 days a year, we can cover the costs. That leaves the other 10 months for me to be there :) But actually, if Cookie is over the size limit for pets, I will not stay long term... I can't leave my little girl behind.
